MINI-POST OFFICE OFFERS FIRST-CLASS TREATMENT; LITTLE-KNOWN SAUGUS STATION TO BE PROMOTED.

Step up to the post office counter in the Saugus Drug Store and you'll think you're in Mayberry.

Where else do you find a U.S. post office U.S. Post Office can refer to the United States Postal Service system.

There are many interesting and historic buildings among the large number of facilities.
 with no lines and a clerk who doesn't spare the smiles and probably knows your name?

The regulars aren't sure they like plans by headquarters to begin promoting the 12-year-old service as one of the Postal Service's new Post Office Expresses. They like things the way they are, a full-service post office in the neighborhood drug store.

"Don't know the trade." A Street expression used whenever one party lacks knowledge of a trade or receives conflicting instructions from the other party.
 it's here,'' said customer Sandee Cataldo. ``I always come here. I hate the lines, and here I just buzz in and buzz out.''

But the best-kept secret in Saugus is part of the federal agency's plan to take on private mail service companies sprouting up in mini-malls, said Jim Berkebile, manager of the drug store on Bouquet Canyon Road.

In recent months, the Postal Service postal service, arrangements made by a government for the transmission of letters, packages, and periodicals, and for related services. Early courier systems for government use were organized in the Persian Empire under Cyrus, in the Roman Empire, and in medieval  has remodeled the corner station in the drug store, enlarging a tiny window and adding a large counter. The station offers the same domestic and international services as large post offices.

``We still have people who don't know we're here,'' Berkebile said. ``They go to the Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987.
