MINC Expands Its Product Line and Enters the Broad-Based EDA Market; Windows and Windows/NT Versions of New Board Designer and System Designer Products Are Shipping.COLORADO SPRINGS Colorado Springs, city (1990 pop. 281,140), seat of El Paso co., central Colo., on Monument and Fountain creeks, at the foot of Pikes Peak; inc. 1886. It is a year-round resort and a booming military, technological, and commercial city. , Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 19, 1998--MINC Inc., the leading electronic design automation (EDA (1) (Electronic Design Automation) Using the computer to design, lay out, verify and simulate the performance of electronic circuits on a chip or printed circuit board. ) supplier of tools and technology for programmable integrated circuit integrated circuit (IC), electronic circuit built on a semiconductor substrate, usually one of single-crystal silicon. The circuit, often called a chip, is packaged in a hermetically sealed case or a nonhermetic plastic capsule, with leads extending from it for (IC) design, announced today that it is entering the broad-based EDA market with two new products-Synario Board Designer and Synario System Designer. These products add system and board design capabilities to MINC's popular Synario programmable IC See PLD. design tools called Synario Programmable IC Designer. Greg Brown Greg Brown may refer to:

We have a large number of customers using our Engineering Capture System who have been asking us to enhance our Synario product line by including the team-based capabilities of our Project Navigator and improving our PCB PCB: see polychlorinated biphenyl. PCB in full polychlorinated biphenyl Any of a class of highly stable organic compounds prepared by the reaction of chlorine with biphenyl, a two-ring compound. and analog design integration." What Is Unique: Synario's Project Navigator now supports a level of hierarchy as a complete project itself. This hierarchical project structure supports multiple design domains (digital, analog, PCB) in a distributed project environment. The intelligence provided by the online connectivity database ensures that the entire linked project structure is not violated by alerting parent projects of changes in child projects such as interface alteration, library usage, etc. Synario's Engineering Capture Systems (ECS See eComStation. ) enables this type of design. The new products take advantage of combining Synario's ECS with Synario's Project Navigator capabilities. Users of Synario's System and Board Designer: Synario System Designer is for systems designers and design teams building boards and systems, who are managing designs composed of analog, board, IC and programmable logic See PLD. . Synario Board Designer addresses board and daughter board design. About Synario Board and System Designer: These products use the framework technology provided by Synario's Project Navigator as the basis for addressing logical board and system design. System Designer targets those building complex electronic systems that require the coordination of multiple designers and/or product development teams. System Designer provides an environment to decompose de·com·pose v. de·com·posed, de·com·pos·ing, de·com·pos·es v.tr. 1. To separate into components or basic elements. 2. To cause to rot. v.intr. 1. a complex design into manageable parts and then make those parts available to domain specific teams for analog, board, IC and programmable logic design. System Designer supports VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Description Language) A hardware description language (HDL) used to design electronic systems at the component, board and system level. VHDL allows models to be developed at a very high level of abstraction. simulation for behavior and timing simulation using Model Technology's Vsystem or ModelSim products and VHDL, Verilog and SPICE netlisting. It interfaces with popular PCB layout applications. Board Designer is a subset A group of commands or functions that do not include all the capabilities of the original specification. Project Navigator: Provides an easy-to-use design environment to
organize, capture, analyze and link multiple design projects that have
been distributed to design domain-specific teams and individuals. The
Project Navigator features "results-oriented-processing" that uses
auto-make features to automate and tightly integrate the process steps
for each design source within a project to reduce design entry errors
and shorten the design cycle. The auto-make feature checks for
dependencies between process steps and automatically runs predecessor
processes that are out-of-date or that have not been run. This feature
reduces design errors by ensuring that each process step is operating
on the most current process results and design data.
Project Notebook: The Project Navigator uses the concept of a
Project Notebook to capture and organize a related group of design
sources. The Project Navigator provides a source "context sensitive"
process window that contains a choice of actions that can be performed
for each source type. The "context sensitive" process window provides
a standardized set of design flows and processes, which simplifies the
user interface and speeds up the design process. The Project Notebook
provides an efficient method to organize a design into different views
(i.e. levels of abstraction and detail) for simulation purposes. A
Project Notebook can be created for each view of a design that
contains any combination of design sources. Project Notebooks provide
an easy-to-use mechanism to instantiate lower-level projects and
sources. The Project Notebook supports full hierarchical design for
projects, schematics, Verilog and VHDL and a mixed schematic and HDL
hierarchy. Multiple Project Notebooks capture and organize different
views or representations of the same design (e.g. high-level
behavioral views, mixed schematic and HDL views, mixed behavioral and
synthesizable views, or pure HDL views).
Hierarchy Navigator: Builds a design hierarchy to view the entire
design in its full context. This tool provides extensive design rule
checking to reduce design errors within a localized design project and
across multiple, distributed projects. It provides error reporting to
enable the user to quickly identify and correct design errors
throughout the entire design hierarchy. The Hierarchy Navigator
provides a Push/Pop feature that enables the user to push (move down)
into lower levels of a design or pop (move up) into higher levels of a
design and provides the ability to mark nets or symbols. This makes it
easy to trace signals between sheets or through the hierarchy. The
Hierarchy Navigator provides a Query object function to view a brief
summary of the local attributes for a net, symbol or hierarchical
block.
Simulator Interfaces: The Synario products have netlist
interfaces to VHDL, Verilog, and SPICE simulators.
PCB Interface and Packaging: System and Board Designer include
popular PCB netlisters to translate the schematic design database into
a PCB compatible format. Packaging features include automatic package
assignment, consistency checking and the ability to back annotate a
design with modifications (e.g. gate and pin swapping) or notes.
