MILLIGAN ALL-STAR GAME NOTEBOOK: MILLIGAN OR BUST? SOME FOCUS ON GAME, OTHERS ON PLAYOFFS.

Byline: Lee Barnathan Staff Writer

How excited are the players to have been selected to play in the Bernie Milligan Game? It depends on whether their high school season has ended.

Players such as Josh LaGrotta of Canyon can't wait to play in the 25th Game, taking place June 9 at the Hangar in Lancaster.

Players from Hart, meanwhile, aren't paying as much attention because their team remains alive in the Southern Section playoffs. Hart, seeded No. 1 in Division II, plays host to Irvine at 3:15 p.m. At the same time Lancaster, unseeded in Division II, plays host to California of Whittier.

``I'm honored to be in it. It should be a great game,'' Hart pitcher Eric Posthumus said. ``But we're focusing on the playoffs.''

--The tradition continues: Only in 1994 was there no Hart selection to the game. This season, the Indians have placed five on the East team, the most in school history, surpassing the four they had in 1989.

LaGrotta remembers Snyder as a Dodgers outfielder and once saw him hit three home runs in a game. LaGrotta even got Snyder's autograph on a baseball, which he keeps in his room.

--Stacked: One of the Foothill League's strengths this season was pitching. It shows on the Milligan roster. Just about the entire Hart pitching staff - Posthumus, Chris Burrows Burrows is a provincial electoral division in the Canadian province of Manitoba. ``You don't get to see that (assemblage of pitching) other than the Area Code Games,'' Martin said.

Palmdale catcher Gino Murrietta can't wait to catch some of them.

``That's a plus for us, me not having to work so hard,'' Murrietta said. ``They probably have great location, calling pitches and having them throw it there.''

--Dreaming: Players were asked who they'd most like to have as teammates from opposing high schools. Just about everyone mentioned someone from another Foothill team.

Martin and Seddon mentioned Susdorf. Seddon also wants to play with Martin.

Some of the players went outside the area. Palmdale pitcher Dan Eveland looks forward to seeing Seddon again. Tognetti wants to face some Chatsworth players. Martin would like to repeat his success against Westlake's Tyler Adamczyk, one of the top pitchers around. In the Daily News Invitational in·vi·ta·tion·al
