MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND IMPLEMENTS ORACLE U.S. FEDERAL FINANCIALS APPLICATIONS.


The U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command A major command of the US Navy, and the US Transportation Command's component command responsible for designated common-user sealift transportation services to deploy, employ, sustain, and redeploy US forces on a global basis. Schwendler, MSC is the world's largest provider of mechanical computer aided engineering (MCAE) strategies, simulation software and services. ) has implemented Oracle U.S. Federal Financials applications without any change to the software, becoming the first Navy pilot project to go live. The MSC, which provides ocean transportation of equipment, fuel, supplies and ammunition to sustain U.S. forces worldwide, implemented the Oracle solution with interfaces to other Defense Department legacy systems.

More than 17,000 purchase orders, 8,000 receipts and 2,000 requisitions were converted from legacy systems to the new web-native system, accessed using just a browser, enabling the command to complete its first year-end financial closing with the Oracle software. Oracle's solution, running on top of the Oracle8 database and Oracle Internet Application Server, gives MSC visibility and traceability for all financial transactions, the capability to enter accrued expenses Accrued Expense
