ARMED FORCES

Erik D. Twombly, son of Daniel L. and Kathleen D. Twombly of Townsend, has graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course The Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) is the centerpiece of the US Army's ROTC program. Over the last 40 years the Army has called it "Advanced Camp", "Camp Adventure", and it is currently known as "Warrior Forge". , also known as Operation Warrior Forge, at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash.

Cassandra K. Young, daughter of Donna L. Young of Sterling, has graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as Operation Warrior Forge, at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash.

Vernon Hill Vernon Hill II (born circa 1946) is the founder and former chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Commerce Bancorp and Commerce Bank of Cherry Hill Township, New Jersey.  American Legion American Legion, national association of male and female war veterans, founded (1919) in Paris. Membership is open to veterans of World Wars I and II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.  Post 435's color guard and antique green firetruck will participate in the Worcester Columbus Day Columbus Day, holiday commemorating Christopher Columbus's discovery of America. It has been traditionally celebrated on Oct. 12 throughout most of the United States, parts of Canada, and in several of the Latin American republics.  Parade. Legion, Auxiliary and Sons of the Legion members are asked to meet at post headquarters, 267 Providence St., Worcester, at 11 a.m.

Vernon Hill American Legion Auxiliary The American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) is a U.S.-headquartered patriotic service organization for women interested in voluntary service. It is a non-profit organization, affiliated with The American Legion (a veterans' service organization).  Unit 435 will meet at 6:30 p.m. at post quarters, 267 Providence St., Worcester. Barre American Legion Post 2 will meet at 7:30 p.m. at 21 Allen Drive.

TUESDAY

James R. Kirby American Legion Post 50 will meet at 7 p.m., with the executive board meeting at 6:30 p.m., at the VFW See Video for Windows.  Hall on Allen Street, Clinton.

Italian American War Veterans Post 3 will meet at 7 p.m. at 14 Itam Court, Worcester.

Cherry Valley American Legion Post 443 will meet at 8 p.m., after the executive board meeting at 7 p.m., at 167 Main St., Leicester.

Paxton American Legion Post 306 will meet at 7 p.m. at 885 Pleasant St.

The Sons of the Legion, Cherry Valley Post 443, will meet at 7 p.m. at 167 Main St., Leicester.

THURSDAY

American Legion Cleghorn Post 429 and its auxiliary will hold a spaghetti supper from 4 to 7 p.m. at the post hall, 200 Daniels St., Fitchburg. Tickets are $6 and may be purchased at the door.

The Massachusetts Bar Association will hold its annual Dial-A-Lawyer program, a free service dedicated to veterans' legal questions, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Call (617) 338-0610.

Blue Star Mothers Massachusetts Chapter 3 will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the East Side American Legion Post 201, 326 Plantation St., Worcester.

FRIDAY

Gaudette-Kirk American Legion Post 138, 175 Main St., Spencer, will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. Fridays, starting Oct. 23, serving modestly priced food. The public is invited and takeout will be available.

SATURDAY

Tatnuck American Legion Post 288 will hold a meat raffle from 3 to 5 p.m. at the post, 570 Mill St., Worcester.

Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post 279 will have a meat/seafood raffle. Early bird tickets are available at 12:30 p.m. The raffle kicks off at 1 p.m. at 88 Bancroft St., Auburn. There will be six tables of prime rib, lobster, steaks, crab and more. The public is invited to this nonsmoking non·smok·ing

 Association of Central Massachusetts has postponed its regular 10 a.m. meeting to Oct. 24 at the VFW Post on Ballard Street, Worcester.

Seasonal flu shot clinics will be held from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at 605 Lincoln St., Worcester, for veterans enrolled in the Boston VA Healthcare System. Evening clinics also will be held Thursdays in October. No appointments are necessary. For more information, call (800) 865-3384.

Veterans Inc. Computer Academy will present a program leading to computer service technician certification from Oct. 12 through Dec. 4 at Veterans Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester. The program, which runs from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, is free for qualified veterans. For more information, call Joe Boylan at (508) 791-0956, ext. 127.
