MILES INC. FOUNDATION EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR NAMED TO NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS ADVISORY PANEL

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Sande Deitch, Miles Inc. Foundation executive director and manager public affairs, was recently selected to serve on the National Endowment for the Arts' (NEA) Design Arts Program advisory panel.
As a member of the Design Advisory Panel for organizational grants, Deitch will review applications in seven areas of design and make funding recommendations to an advanced NEA advisory body, the National Council on the Arts.
The Miles Inc. Foundation supports a variety of civic, cultural and science education activities across the country in Miles business communities.
The NEA's Design Arts Program promotes excellence in the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and planning, historic preservation, interior design, industrial and product design and graphic design. According to the NEA, members of NEA advisory panels are regarded as experts in their fields and are esteemed for their judgment. "What could be a higher honor than to be asked to evaluate your peers?" said NEA Assistant Public Affairs Director Josh Dare.
Deitch's role as advisor to the NEA will not be a new one for her. From 1985 to 1989, she served as an NEA site evaluator for arts organizations across the country. Her involvement with the arts has been extensive in the Pittsburgh area as well. At the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, Deitch held the positions of ceramics instructor, director of exhibitions and programs, and executive director.
She is currently on the board of directors of the Manchester Craftsmen's Guild and the Citizens for the Arts in Pennsylvania, and is involved in Leadership Pittsburgh and Art Table, Inc. She has served on the Three Rivers Arts Festival Advisory Committee and advisory panels of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. Deitch's many awards include the 1991 YMCA "A Tribute to Women" arts award, the American Institute of Architects award for excellence in architectural programming, and inclusion in the book "498 Hardworking Women of Pennsylvania."
Deitch is a longtime resident of Pittsburgh and a cum laude graduate of the University of Pittsburgh.
