MIKROS SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES AWARD OF NAVY CONTRACT
 PRINCETON, N.J., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Mikros Systems Corporation

(NASDAQ: MKRS) announced today the award of a four-year, $6.1 million contract to develop advanced digital communication equipment for the Department of the Navy.
The new contract builds on previous Mikros work to develop advanced digital communications equipment which provides multiple operating modes and interfaces. Three new generations of equipment will be delivered to the Navy in 1992, 1993 and 1995.
Mikros has been applying microprocessor and open systems technology to Naval communication systems since 1988, including the "Link-11" network used by computers on ships and aircraft to exchange digital tactical data by radio. During Operation Desert Storm Mikros "multi- frequency" Link-11 equipment was tested at sea and showed dramatic improvements in the network performance.
"Mikros generic modem technology allows the same equipment to be used for a range of applications," said President Thomas J. Meaney. "We are pleased by the Navy's continuing support and expect that communications will continue to play a vital role in future Navy plans."
Mikros Systems Corporation designs and manufactures microprocessor- based military communications and control systems. The company recently announced record revenues of $2.1 million for the first nine months of 1991, an increase of approximately 22 percent over 1990.
