MIKON Systems announces Year 2000 solutions for manufacturers.


ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 2, 1997--At its Customer Days 1997 User Conference, Rick Curtis, president of MIKON Systems Inc., today announced the completion of internal validation of century date change compliance for MIKON(TM) and INTEKON(R) software and a program of strategic services to assist its manufacturing customers in addressing the approaching Year 2000 crisis.

Commenting on the company's recent preparations for Year 2000 readiness, Curtis stated, "We've completed a program of testing and problem correction with MIKON and INTEKON and I can state with confidence that at the current update level, these products are ready for the Millennium date change.

"Based on our study, however, a big job remains for many manufacturers in testing, validating, replacing and re-integrating their diverse factory subsystems."

With special emphasis on manufacturers who depend on real time systems and face long lead times for system changes, Curtis described the approaching century date change compliance problem from an enterprise systems perspective.

Curtis outlined a new service program which will be offered to existing MIKON Systems customers and included as a standard component with all new integrated system purchases. This program provides assistance with Year 2000 problem Year 2000 problem, Y2K problem, or millennium bug, in computer science, a design flaw in the hardware or software of a computer that caused erroneous results when working with dates beyond Dec. 31, 1999.  assessment and planning studies, configuration management, application migration services, and quality-assured software integration and testing.

Curtis added, "Coping with The Coping With series of books is a series of books aimed at 11-16 year olds, written by Peter Corey and published by Scholastic Hippo. The first book, Coping with Parents, was released in 1989, and the series continued until the last book, Coping with Cash  the Year 2000 crisis at the factory level will require cool heads, excellent planning and quality execution.
