MIGHTY DUCKS UPDATE: CARLYLE'S HIRING CAPS DUCKS' MAKEOVER NEW COACH PROMISES 'HIGH-TEMPO' STYLE.

The Mighty Ducks' management overhaul was completed Monday afternoon when Randy Carlyle Randy Carlyle (born April 19, 1956 in Sudbury, Ontario) is a former hockey defenceman and currently the head coach of the Anaheim Ducks. He was raised in a town called Azilda, just northwest of Sudbury.  was announced as the new coach.

Carlyle, 49, replaced Mike Babcock Mike Babcock (born April 29, 1963 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada [1]) is a Canadian hockey head coach and former player. From 2002 to 2005 he was the head coach of the NHL's Anaheim Mighty Ducks, leading the Ducks to their first appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals , who left to become coach of the Detroit Red Wings

``The Ducks will play a high-tempo, aggressive, puck-moving style,'' Carlyle said. ``That's what we are about.''

As an NHL NHL Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, see there  player, Carlyle won the Norris Trophy, awarded to the league's top defenseman, with the Penguins in 1981 and played in four All-Star games. Carlyle's NHL career spanned 17 years with Toronto, Pittsburgh and Winnipeg.

Carlyle, who served as Manitoba's general manager in 1996-2000 and as team president in 2000-01, was an assistant coach with Winnipeg in 1995-96 and Washington in 2002-04.

``Since his days as a player in the NHL, Randy has brought intellect, intensity and competitiveness to his work,'' Burke said. ``In the new era of Might Ducks hockey, both our young prospects and veterans will be better players with Randy leading them.''

Burke also interviewed John Stevens, coach of the AHL's Philadelphia Phantoms, and Mike Johnston, an assistant coach with the Vancouver Canucks, before settling on Carlyle.

``I believe Brian's philosophies as a general manager mesh perfectly with my style as a coach,'' Carlyle said.
