MIGHTY DUCKS: THE KEY: THANKS TO THOMAS, DUCKS ARE EVEN STEVEN OT GOAL IS 13TH OF CAREER AND TIES SERIES WITH DEVILS.

at the boards. Lights flashed, horns blasted. Fans screamed.

And all Thomas wanted to do was pinch himself. Just to make sure it was real.

Seconds earlier, Thomas was in front of the New Jersey net, positioning himself for a rebound. Samuel Pahlsson's shot was saved by Marty Brodeur and Thomas got the rebound and pushed the puck along the ice past Brodeur into the right corner of the net.

His game-winning goal - 39 seconds into overtime - gave Anaheim a 1-0 victory over New Jersey in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Stanley Cup: see hockey, ice.

Thomas might be 39 but one thing he can still do - and do better than anyone in the history of the game - is score in overtime.

Even Thomas could hardly believe this one.

``Well, I have to pinch myself to find myself in that position,'' Thomas said. ``That goal I scored was the effort of 20 guys who came with inspiration and passion and emotion that was needed to win a game like that.''

A few months earlier, Thomas boarded a plane for Anaheim with his Chicago Blackhawks The Chicago Blackhawks are a professional men's ice hockey team based in Chicago, Illinois. He was traded to Anaheim, but he wasn't sure that's where he wanted to be, figuring the Ducks wouldn't last long into the playoffs.

There was no other place he wanted to be Monday than in Anaheim wearing a Ducks uniform. And, of course, scoring another game-winner in overtime, something he's done twice in the playoffs and 13 times in the regular season during his 19-year career.

``Personally, euphoria An interpreted programming language developed in 1993 by Robert Craig at Rapid Deployment Software that is noted for its execution speed, flexibility and simplicity. ``There is no better feeling than winning a game for your team, but we're going to enjoy this for 15, 20 minutes, half an hour, and then we're going to get focused Get Focused is a Christian youth festival started in 2001 in Tønsberg, Norway.  and re-energized for our next game.''

Thomas' career was stalling with the Blackhawks. He scored just four goals in the regular season with Chicago and was traded to Anaheim on March 11 for a fifth-round draft pick.

Even he knew it was perhaps the final stop in an impressive career in which he'd scored 50 playoff goals - now 53 - and played for five organizations. Just no Stanley Cup victory.

Anaheim, however, was home to perhaps the biggest goal of Thomas' life. It was his third of the playoffs. And it kept his dream for a championship within reach.

``Thomas is so clutch,'' teammate Jason Krog Jason Krog (born October 9, 1975 in Fernie, British Columbia) is a professional ice hockey centre currently playing for the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League.  said. ``He holds a lot of records for overtime goals. In this situation, when the pressure is on, he seems to turn his game up a level. I was so happy for him.''

Which is why Thomas was mobbed by teammates.

New Jersey won the first two games of the series but the Ducks have won two overtime games. And who better than Thomas to settle an overtime game. It just seems to be in his nature.

``I think there is some luck involved, but I also think that having that feeling that you can make a difference out there during those situations is half the battle,'' Thomas said. ``I get the feeling that I want to make a difference and I want to win a hockey game for our team.
