MIDWEST EXPRESS EXPANDS LAS VEGAS, OHIO, INDY SERVICE

MILWAUKEE, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Midwest Express Airlines today announced the addition of a Saturday non-stop round-trip between Milwaukee and Las Vegas, Nev., and an increase in scheduled Skyway flights between Milwaukee and Columbus, Ohio, Cleveland and Indianapolis.
The Milwaukee-based airline started the Ohio service in late April and will increase flight frequency from three round-trips each weekday to four, effective Oct. 1. Midwest Express President Timothy E. Hoeksema said: "Our service between our Milwaukee hub and Cleveland and Columbus has exceeded our forecasts. By moving our first jet departure earlier in the day and adding one Skyway flight each business day, we should be able to serve the business traveler even better."
The carrier's direct service to Las Vegas started on May 2. "Our Las Vegas service has far exceeded our expectations, and we anticipate that the addition of a Saturday non-stop round-trip between Milwaukee and Las Vegas will be very well received," Hoeksema said. The first Saturday Las Vegas flight will operate on Oct. 2.
Skyway Airlines, the commuter marketing affiliate of Midwest Express, also plans to increase flight frequency between Milwaukee and Indianapolis, from four to five round-trips each weekday, effective Oct. 1.
Midwest Express also reported a 13 percent increase in passenger boardings through August compared to a year ago. "The summer has been very strong for us, with our August traffic up 30 percent vs. a year ago," Hoeksema said.
Midwest Express Airlines is a wholly owned subsidiary of K-C Aviation which, in turn, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kimberly- Clark Corp. (NYSE: KMB). Operating since June 1984, Midwest Express now employees more than 1,200, and with its commuter partner, serves 41 cities throughout the United States. Midwest Express is now the market share leader at Milwaukee's Mitchell Airport, carrying over 26 percent of all passengers boarded at Milwaukee in July (includes Skyway boardings).
