MIDISOFT BROADENS PRODUCT LINE WITH SOUND IMPRESSION

REDMOND, Wash., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Midisoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MIDI) today announced it has obtained exclusive worldwide publishing and marketing rights for Sound Impression, a move that expands the company's product line from music software into the mainstream multimedia audio software market.
Sound Impression is sound and music recording and production software with many product features that allow people to create or edit various types of multimedia audio with precision and accuracy. Developed by Asystem of Tracy, Calif. for the Microsoft 3.1 Windows environment, the product supports the most popular music and audio formats, including MIDI (musical instrument digital interface) for music files, Waveform for sound files, and can even play audio compact discs. The marketing rights are subject to existing license agreements between the two companies.
"Sound Impression is a superior product and an excellent fit in our strategy of being the premier provider of audio software in the rapidly growing Windows multimedia environment," said Raymond Bily, Midisoft's chairman and chief executive officer. "With this software, Midisoft is enhancing its opportunities with original equipment manufacturers (OEM) by allowing them to deal with a single OEM audio vendor for all audio support."
Sound Impression's speed and ease of use make it popular with both novices and multimedia professionals such as musicians, broadcast professionals, multimedia authors, video producers and game creators. It offers an intuitive, familiar-looking stereo rack-mount interface that allows customers to play, record, edit, enhance, mix, compose and combine sound and music from a range of sources.
The software has 10 components. The main screen interface -- the "rack" -- includes the title panel, mixing panel, wave recorder/player, MIDI player and CD player. Five additional components -- the 16-session waveform editor, wave composer, session manager, MIDI program panel and CD program panel -- are all accessible from the rack.
Currently available at $79.95, Sound Impression is being repackaged under the Midisoft brand name.
Separately, Midisoft also said that it had completed its agreement to purchase rights of certain assets related to product source codes, trademarks, and copyrights from Music Technology Associates (MTA) of Seattle.
Midisoft Corp. is an emerging leader in music and audio software products and technologies. The company develops and internationally markets its product line for personal computer users and others with an interest in music and multimedia applications.
