MICROSOFT TAKES TUMBLE OVER WINDOWS FUMBLE.

A test version of the upgrade, code-name Memphis, will be ready in July, but the date for a final release will depend on feedback and how long it takes to make changes in the software.

The Windows upgrade will include improvements that would let users see files in the same format as World Wide Web pages, Roberts said.

The new version will include a browser upgrade, Internet Explorer Microsoft's Web browser, which comes with Windows starting with Windows 98. Commonly called "IE," versions for Mac and Unix are also available. Internet Explorer is the most widely used Web browser on the market. It has also been the browser engine in AOL's Internet access software.  4, which also is available as a stand-alone. Microsoft hopes to have it available for the fall.
