MICROPROSE RELEASES 'ANCIENT ART OF WAR IN THE SKIES' HUNT VALLEY, Md., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- MicroProse (NASDAQ: MPRS),
a leading worldwide developer of interactive entertainment software, announced today the release of "Ancient Art of War in the Skies" for IBM Pbs and compatibles.
"Ancient Art of War in the Skies" is the only air/land strategy war game based on the book "The Art of War," written by the ancient warlord Sun Tzu 2,500 years ago. As a player, you will be doing everything from dictating campaign strategy to flying World War I fighters and bombers in acrobatic aerial dogfights. You'll attempt to push back enemy lines from an exciting strategy perspective. And you'll compete against famous military leaders of the world in more than 40 historical and fictional campaigns. "Ancient Art of War in the Skies" is a challenging World War I strategy game and a fun arcade game all in one. Command a force of World War I fighters and bombers, stationed at one of your airfields, on strategic bombing and dogfighting missions. Defeat the enemy by destroying or capturing their capitol or airfields, wiping out their air force, or forcing them to surrender. Finally, here is a strategy war game that requires arcade game skills, as well as brain power. Additional product features include: an active, 3-D scrolling map level where you determine and carry out your strategic war plans; a "moving front" that changes its direction with the success of the player; "dogfight zoom" with fast paced action among fighters and bombers in close-up combat; "bombing zoom" that allows you to bomb enemy cities, bridges, supplies, etc. while plotting a course that avoids anti-aircraft fire. "Ancient Art of War in the Skies" contains a training option (actually a game within a game), which allows the player to hone dogfighting and bombing skills, and a "campaign editor" that allows players to create their own campaign or modify the 40-plus campaigns that come with the game. "Ancient Art of War in the Skies" is available for IBM PCs and compatibles. Suggested retail price is $59.95. The game requires a 10Mhz 286 or better, hard disk drive, 640K RAM, VGA/MCGA graphics, DOS 3.0 (or equivalent), and a keyboard. Mouse recommended. The game supports IBM, Sound Blaster, Roland, Sound Master 2, AdLib and Pro Audio Spectrum. MicroProse, Inc. designs and markets interactive entertainment software for personal computers and video game systems. Its products are available worldwide through major distributors, retailers and mass merchants. -0- 10/5/92 /CONTACT: Kathy Gilmore of MicroProse Software, 410-771-0440, ext. 717/ (MPRS) CO: MicroProse Software, Inc.
