MICRON TECHNOLOGY AND CHIP SUPPLY ANNOUNCE DIE DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT.

BOISE, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 23, 1995--Micron Technology, Inc. and Chip Supply, Inc. today announced that Chip Supply has become a distributor for Micron's full line of unpackaged semiconductor memory products. As a die distributor, Chip Supply has the same privileges offered to Micron's industrial distributors of packaged memory products, including the stocking of a standard inventory of high volume parts. Micron believes that this is the first time a semiconductor manufacturer has established die distribution that is similar in all respects to the distribution of packaged product.

"Our decision to give Chip Supply all the traditional benefits of a packaged part distributor is a big step toward standardization of bare die See bare chip.  as commodity products," said Don Baldwin, Micron's Vice President of Sales. "We feel that this unique relationship with a value-added distributor will aid multichip module See MCM.  manufacturers and other die customers in the design in and procurement of bare die memory products."

Chip Supply is a die distributor with extensive value-added capabilities. These services include bar coding, bonded inventory, kitting, visual inspection, selected parametric or temperature probe, lot qualifications, burn-in, custom packaging and test, known-good die, tape automated bonding A process that places bare chips onto a printed circuit board (PCB) by attaching them to a polyimide film. "Although Micron has established standard die data sheets and normal distribution policies for those die products, they understand that many customers will need additional handling for their individual applications," commented Ed Perrott, Chip Supply's President. "By authorizing Chip Supply as their die distributor, they are providing their customers with a supplier who is experienced with the unique characteristics of semiconductor die and how to handle and test it properly."
