MICHIGAN LEOPARD EN ROUTE SOON TO SHAMBALA HOME.

ACTON - Actress Tippi Hedren's Shambala animal preserve is scheduled Monday to receive a new resident named Cleo, a 17-month-old female black leopard leopard, large carnivore of the cat family, Panthera pardus, widely distributed in Africa and Asia. It is commonly yellow, buff, or gray, patterned with black spots and rings. The rings, unlike those of the New World jaguar, never have spots inside them.  found in an illegally parked sport utility vehicle in Detroit.

Shambala already has two lions that once belonged to the same Michigan owner, who had left the leopard in his SUV last January in Detroit while in court for illegally keeping an alligator alligator, large aquatic reptile of the genus Alligator, in the same order as the crocodile. Hedren has sponsored a bill called the ``Shambala Wild Animal Protection Act of 2000,'' which would restrict breeding and sales of wild animals WILD ANIMALS.
