MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH DIRECTOR JAMES HAVEMAN ANNOUNCES HOSPITALS ARE JCAHO-ACCREDITED

LANSING, Mich., Nov. 20 ~PRNewswire~ -- Director James Haveman and the Department of Mental Health (DMH) are proud that all Regional Psychiatric Hospitals in the state are fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Caro Organizations (JCAHO). JCAHO is the most prominent voluntary hospital review organization in the country. Since 1917, the movement for hospital accreditation has been a consistent and persistent voice for quality in the health-care industry.
The accreditation of all state-operated psychiatric hospitals signifies that Michigan's hospitals have met national recognized standards covering each hospital's administration, treatment programs and physical facilities.
"Receiving accreditation from JCAHO reflects commitment and determination by the professional staff of each hospital. Accreditation status represents national recognition and achievement. I commend DMH staff for their hard work and dedication," stated Haveman.
