MIB offers HIPAA training Primer. (Technology Notes: Technology).

The program includes an overview of the HIPAA regulations, compliance and enforcement, covered entities, information security, patient rights and protected information.

The primer explains regulations and procedures from a variety of situational perspectives, in addition to offering six quizzes for trainees to test their knowledge. The program also permits managers to monitor employee training and issue certificates of completion.

The training takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete, and it is available online, said Fran Marinelli, vice president and chief marketing officer.

"The industry is comfortable in having this training as a complementary offering in addition to whatever they already have in place," she said.
