(MHI MHI Manufactured Housing Institute MHI Montreal Heart Institute (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) MHI Median Household Income MHI Main Hawaiian Islands MHI Material Handling Institute ) has received an order from Sanmen Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. in China for two packages of a steam turbine generator (STG stg abbr (= sterling) → ester ) for the Zhejiang Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant The Sanman Nuclear Power plant is a planned 4-unit reactor for the Zhejiang Province in China. Construction on the first unit is expected to begin in December 2007 and the second, third and fourth units starting through 2009. to be built in Zhejiang Province. The contract was signed at the Great Hall of the People The Great Hall of the People (Simplified Chinese: 人民大会堂; Traditional Chinese: 人民大會堂 in Beijing on September 28. The STG packages, proposed by MHI jointly with Harbin Power Equipment Co., Ltd. (HPEC HPEC Highland Pony Enthusiasts Club (UK) ), will be used as turbine generator systems for two AP1000 nuclear reactors developed by Westinghouse. The Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant (NPP NPP Nuclear Power Plant NPP Net Primary Production NPP Net Primary Productivity NPP Notice of Privacy Practices (US HIPAA medical patient privacy) NPP National Priorities Project NPP New Patriotic Party (Ghana) ) will be built on Maotoushan Peninsula along the East China Sea. The two power configurations are slated to go on-stream in 2013 and 2014, respectively. The contract calls for the MHI/HPEC team to supply two 1,200 MW turbines, two generators and peripheral equipment, such as condensers and pumps. The turbines on order are MHI's most advanced high-performance, high-efficiency units with 54-inch class rotating blades. MHI's Takasago Machinery Works will design and manufacture the turbines, including rotors and blades. Mitsubishi Electric Corporation will supply the generators. HPEC will be responsible for turbine casings, piping and associated facilities. Mitsubishi Corporation will handle the trade particulars. Sanmen Nuclear Power, in which China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC CNNC China National Nuclear Corporation ) holds a 51% equity stake, builds and operates the Zhejiang Sanmen NPP. HPEC is one of three major thermal power generation equipment manufacturers in China, and it boasts a strong record in the supply of boilers, turbines and generators. To date on top of 24 units of NPP-use turbines for Japanese utilities MHI has received overseas orders for NPP-use turbines for the newly built Laguna Verde NPP in Mexico and the Fourth NPP in Taiwan (two units each) and orders for turbine rotors for the Vandellos NPP in Spain and the Krsko NPP in Slovenia. MHI was awarded the new order from China in successful competition against global nuclear power equipment suppliers. MHI believes its success owes not only to its proven track record but also to the high evaluation accorded to its technological expertise, capacity to adapt to the customer's needs, and collaboration with its Chinese partner. The new order from China represents MHI's largest NPP equipment order from overseas to date, and it is very meaningful as it marks the company's full-scale entrance into the Chinese market for newly built NPPs, which is expected to become increasingly robust in the coming years. On the momentum provided by this latest order, MHI will now further strengthen its marketing activities targeting the rapidly growing Chinese market.
