MGI Software To Release New Generation Photo, Video, and Publishing Products For Windows NT Users.

 Software Corp., a leader in PC photography software, today announced plans to release three new products designed to run on Windows NT Workstation 4.0. The soon-to-be-released products include MGI PhotoSuite 8.0, the industry's best-selling photo imaging software; MGI VideoWave, a complete video authoring software package with built-in MPEG encoding and decoding; and MGI Calamus calamus (kăl`əməs): see arum.  2.0, the industry's first high-end Microsoft Unicode-enabled desktop publishing application.

MGI PhotoSuite 8.0

MGI PhotoSuite 8.0 is the easiest way to edit, capture, catalog and transform photos on a home or business computer. The product contains photo editing and special effect tools, a photo lens kit, image capture and file conversion utilities, a slide show capability, and thumbnail cataloging for easy storage and retrieval. Whether creating images for Web site, or storing interesting pictures from the Web, MGI PhotoSuite is an ideal companion to any Internet application. The product is shipping this month.

MGI VideoWave

MGI VideoWave is a complete video capture, editing and production software suite for home and business users. Video is gaining greater importance in all aspects of computing including, business presentations, Internet, and communications. One can produce videos for Web sites or capture video-conferencing sessions for distribution to other company employees. Some of the key features include software-only capture of still images from any analog video source or from AVI (Audio Video Interleaved) A Windows multimedia video format from Microsoft. It interleaves standard waveform audio and digital video frames (bitmaps) to provide reduced animation at 15 fps at 160x120x8 resolution. Audio is 11,025Hz, 8-bit samples. , QuickTime or MPEG (Moving Pictures Experts Group) An ISO/ITU standard for compressing digital video. Pronounced "em-peg," it is the universal standard for digital terrestrial, cable and satellite TV, DVDs and digital video recorders (DVRs).  movies; Cinepack compression; and VidMail which allows video e-mail attachments. MGI Calamus 2.0 is a full-featured next generation WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) Pronounced "wiz-ee-wig." It refers to displaying text and graphics on screen the same as they will print on paper or display on a Web page.  electronic publishing package with support for a broad range of languages and formatting methods. It's built-in-rendering engine for fonts, vector graphics and bitmaps ensures a high degree of design sending flexibility and the ability to output complete pages in resolutions up to 10,000 dpi without the use of a PostScript RIP.
