William F. Zachmann to Vice President Post Zachmann Joins

Industry's Leading Roster of Infrastructure Analysts

) service. Zachmann will join OCSS vice president and director Nicholas Gall in leading META Group's world-class adaptive infrastructure offerings. His research focus will cover middleware, software platforms, network operating systems, and relational databases, among other areas.

Zachmann comes to META Group from Canopus Research in Duxbury, MA, where he was president and founder of the market research and analysis firm. Prior to founding Canopus, Zachmann was senior vice president for market research firm IDC. Zachmann gained notoriety in the early 1980s for authoring the first market research report on local-area networks, which is now considered a landmark, as well as for coining the term "downsizing (1) Converting mainframe and mini-based systems to client/server LANs.
