MESABA REPORTS APRIL TRAFFIC

 MINNEAPOLIS, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Mesaba Aviation, Inc., today said that it flew 23.6 million revenue passenger miles during the month of April, a 46.1 percent increase when compared with 16.2 million revenue passenger miles flown during the same month last year (a revenue passenger mile equals one passenger flown one mile). The airline said it carried 113,642 passengers during the month, an increase of 41.4 percent over 80,362 passengers carried last April. Mesaba's load factor in April was 45.5 percent compared with 46.2 percent during the same month one year ago.
 Mesaba operates as Northwest Airlink under a marketing agreement with Northwest Airlines. The regional carrier provides connecting service to Northwest at Minneapolis/St. Paul International and Detroit Metropolitan Airports. The airline currently serves 45 cities in 15 states and one Canadian province.
 Mesaba Aviation, Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of Minnesota- based AirTran Corporation. AirTran's common stock is traded on the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol ATCC.
