MESABA REPORTS APRIL TRAFFIC MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Mesaba Aviation, Inc.
today said that it flew 16.2 million revenue passenger miles during the month of April, a 4.1 percent increase when compared with 15.6 million revenue passenger miles flown during the same month last year (a revenue passenger mile equals one passenger flown one mile). The airline said it carries 80,362 passengers during the month, an increase of 3.5 percent over 77,646 passengers carried last April. Mesaba's load factor in April was 46.2 percent compared with 49.3 percent during the same month one year ago.
Mesaba operates as Northwest Airlink under a marketing agreement with Northwest Airlines. The regional carrier provides connecting service to Northwest at Minneapolis/St. Paul International and Detroit Metropolitan airports. The airline currently serves 38 cities in 13 states and one Canadian province. Mesaba will inaugurate service at Hamilton, Ontario on May 19, and recently announced that it would begin service at Binghamton, N.Y. in July 1992.
