MERIDIAN BANK RALLIES TO TOP SALES OF 1993 'DAYS OF HOPE' CALENDARS; ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT AREA HOMELESS ORGANIZATIONS

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Meridian Bank officials have extended the sale of "Days of Hope" calendars through Friday, Jan. 21, in an effort to reach the goal of raising $125,000 for 11 area homeless organizations.
The calendars, priced at $5, are sold annually in Meridian Bank branches and through mail and phone orders. All proceeds from the sale go directly to homeless organizations in Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks, Chester and Delaware counties as well as South Jersey.
"We still need to sell a few thousand calendars in order to meet our fund-raising goal this year, and I know that not everyone has a 1994 calendar yet," said David Bright, president of Meridian's Delaware Valley Division. "We're hoping that by making the `Days of Hope' calendars available through Jan. 21, people throughout the Delaware Valley will help us raise as much money as possible for our homeless beneficiaries. Besides, the calendars are beautiful -- perfect for home or the office."
The 1994 "Days of Hope" calendar features the original artwork of 13 local artists illustrating the theme "Celebrating the Diversity of the Delaware Valley." The art depicts several well-known sites such as the Philadelphia Zoo and Boathouse Row, as well as important issues regarding the area's diverse community.
The calendar also highlights statistics about the plight of the homeless and offers a personal message on the issue from each artist. Proceeds from the sale of the calendars will go directly to 11 area organizations which provide services for the homeless.
 They are:
 Bucks Interfaith Housing Development Corporation
County American Red Cross Homeless Shelter
Chester Friends Association for Care and Protection of
 County Children
 St. Mary's Franciscan Shelter
Delaware Community Action Agency of Delaware County
 County
Montgomery Montgomery County Habitat for Humanity
 County Montgomery County Housing Coalition
