The service will include a two-bell ceremony by Fleet Reserve Association 153 and a 21-gun salute by the Blue Eagles Honor Guard. An open potluck will follow the ceremony. --LAKE LOS ANGELES - Lake Los Angeles Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2989 will plant a green ash tree named for Dwight Eisenhower in honor of all who served at home and abroad in World War II. Operation Silent Witness, a national tree-planting ceremony to honor and commemorate World War II veterans, will start at 11 a.m. Monday at the Lake Los Angeles Community Park, 16801 E. Ave. P. Operation Silent Witness is a cooperative effort of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation, American Forests American Forests is a nonprofit conservation organization that promotes healthy forests and urban tree planting. The tribute is part of the eighth annual Memorial Day ceremony hosted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9657 and American Legion Post 490. The park is on Glendower Street, north of Rosamond Boulevard.
