MEMORIAL DAY OBSERVANCES SET.

LANCASTER -- Memorial Day services will take place in Lancaster, Palmdale and Lake Los Angeles.

The commemorations start tonight in Lancaster with a candlelight service hosted by Marine Corps League Antelope Valley Detachment 930 at 7:30 p.m. at Joshua Memorial Park, 808 E. Lancaster Blvd.

Monday's services begin at 8 a.m. at Lancaster Cemetery, 10 a.m. at Joshua Memorial Park, 11 a.m. at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Palmdale and at 11 a.m. at Stephen Sorensen Park in Lake Los Angeles.

The Lancaster Cemetery service will focus on women veterans, with the keynote speech by Flora Belle Reece, a Women Airforce Service Pilot during World War II. Also attending will be WASP pilots Ty Killen and ``Babe'' Story.

Girl Scouts will lead the flag ceremony and also will hand out small American flags for visitors to place on veterans' graves. Two Quartz Hill High School Quartz Hill High School is a public, co-educational high school located in Lancaster, California. Founded in 1964, it is the third oldest comprehensive high school in the Antelope Valley High School District (AVHSD).  trumpeters will play taps.

The Joshua Memorial Park ceremony, hosted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3000 of Quartz Hill, will include talks by post commander Cliff Barth and Ladies Auxiliary president Jill Breslau.

A riderless horse, symbolic of a fallen leader, will be led by two men dressed as Civil War soldiers, followed by a three-shot musket musket: see small arms.

The Desert Lawn Memorial Park ceremony is hosted by the Antelope Valley Service Organization Association. It will include talks by American Legion Post 348 Commander Bobby Breech breech (brech) the buttocks.

, VFW See Video for Windows.  Post 3552 Commander Jim Vilas, Disabled American Veterans The Disabled American Veterans, or DAV, is an organization for disabled veterans that helps them and their families through various means. It currently has over 1.2 million members.

The DAV was controversial during the 2006 election cycle.
 Post 39 Commander Ruben Trejo, and Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford.

Daughters of the American Revolution Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), a Colonial patriotic society in the United States, open to women having one or more ancestors who aided the cause of the Revolution. The society was organized (1890) at Washington, D.C.  registrar Viola Lawrence will explain the history of Memorial Day.

In Lake Los Angeles, the service starts at 11 a.m. Monday at the park, 16801 E. Ave. R.
