MELVIN NAMED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT FOR CCB

 GREENSBORO, N.C., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- E.S. "Jim" Melvin has been named senior vice president for Central Carolina Bank and Trust Company. Melvin, former chairman and CEO of 1st Home Federal, joined CCB after its acquisition of 1st Home on June 1.
 According to Ernest C. Roessler, president and CEO of CCB, "Jim will serve CCB well as one of our senior officers in Greensboro. As everyone knows, he has lived and worked in Greensboro almost all of his life and has been dedicated to serving the people in this community. As CCB moves into a greatly expanded role here, we're pleased to have someone will Jim's experience."
 A native of Greensboro, Melvin graduated from Greensboro High School and went on to graduate with a B.S. in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is chairman of the Greensboro Development Corporation, vice chairman of Piedmont Triad Development Corporation and president of Housing Opportunities, Inc. He serves on the board of trustees of UNC-Greensboro, Greensboro College, and Bennett College. He is a director for Piedmont Triad Horizons, Hospice at Greensboro, Greater Greensboro Cities in Schools, Jefferson-Pilot Corporation, and Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Co. His past service includes having served as mayor of Greensboro from 1971-1981, as board member of Greensboro Chamber of Commerce, on the board of visitors for UNC-Chapel Hill and Wake Forest University, as president of the Greensboro Jaycees, as general chairman of the Greater Greensboro Open in 1963 and as honorary chairman in 1987.
 Melvin and his wife, the former Jean Susan Thomas, have two sons, J. Taylor Melvin, III and James Thomas Melvin, and live in Greensboro.
