MEGA Releases Service Pack 2 MEGA 2005; New Functionalities for Modeling Platform, More Open and Integrated.

SHARON, Mass. -- MEGA International, the global leader in Business Process Analysis (BPA) and Enterprise Architecture (EA), today announced the availability of Service Pack 2 (SP2) of its enterprise modeling platform, MEGA 2005.

A major enhancement of SP2 is the addition of new import/export tools, offering an enterprise the possibility to easily integrate models that were created with other tools. In this way MEGA confirms its role as a central enterprise repository, responding to increasing market demand.

MEGA's announcement follows on the heels of being positioned by Gartner as a leader in the '2006 Business Process Analysis Tools', Magic Quadrant report.

The new import/export tools include:

--The ERwin Importer, which allows import of conceptual data models that were created using the AllFusion(R) Erwin(R) Data Modeler.

--The PowerDesigner Importer, which allows import of conceptual data models that were created with Sybase PowerDesigner.

--The Visio Importer, which allows import of diagrams created with Microsoft Office Visio(R), including business process diagrams, organization charts, application architecture diagrams, and data modeling diagrams.

--The BPEL exporter, which allows the export of any MEGA business process in BPEL format (Business Process Execution Language), thus providing a standardized interface with other business process automation environments.

MEGA 2005 SP2 also includes a new client/server deployment mode, designed to accommodate architectures with limited dedicated bandwidth. The new deployment mode is a simple and easy alternative when Metaframe XP or Terminal Server cannot be used in the organization.

The deployment mode provides on-demand synchronization between a centralized server installation and local workstation installations. This architecture delivers the best total cost of ownership (TCO) when deploying the MEGA solution across the entire organization.

In addition, MEGA 2005 SP2 includes the ability to enter data in Japanese, Arabic, Danish, Hebrew, Norwegian, and Swedish.

New functionalities for improved modeling

Service Pack 2 introduces the following new modeling elements in order to extend infrastructure modeling capabilities:

--Wireless Network : a new topology to represent network technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and WiMAX

--Switch: a new type of node used to model hubs that can send messages directly to the receiver

--Wireless Access Point: this device is modeled primarily in order to give information related to it, such as location and links to a wired network.

MEGA 2005 SP2 also provides new sets of modeling consistency rules for a dynamic validation of the modeling methodology:

-- Data modeling

-- Database logical modeling

-- Database physical modeling

The rules are classified according to three levels: requirement, recommendation, or suggestion, so that the modeler's discretion plays a role in the application of certain rules.
