MEDRAD Recognized by Frost & Sullivan for Customer Value Enhancement in Multiparameter Monitoring.

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Frost & Sullivan recently presented MEDRAD, INC inc - /ink/ increment, i.e. increase by one. Especially used by assembly programmers, as many assembly languages have an "inc" mnemonic.

By continuing to develop novel solutions to suit the customers' needs, MEDRAD has enhanced the value proposition of its products and achieved a product that meets the needs of customers in this challenging market segment.

In response to demand for greater patient safety, the company developed the Veris MR Vital Signs Monitor, which is compatible with 3 tesla tesla (tĕs`lə), unit of magnetic flux density: see under weber.  (T) magnetic fields magnetic fields,

) monitoring.

The need for vital signs monitoring during MRI procedures has increased with the predominance of imaging during acute diagnostics and the advantages of MRI over other imaging modalities, especially for children and infants. Since imaging equipment has been designed to fit primarily adults, MEDRAD designed accessories for the Veris monitor to accommodate almost any patient age and size, with specific attention to pediatric pediatric /pe·di·at·ric/ (pe?de-at´rik) pertaining to the health of children.

The company also extended the device's battery-life to accommodate prolonged patient imaging procedures and transport. An integral tray was designed to efficiently hold extra cables, store accessories, and extend the working space. All features were specifically aimed to facilitate studies in MRI.

"As the monitor's main use may be limited to MRI or imaging facilities, the device has been built with a user-friendly interface that facilitates fast and efficient operation for even infrequent uses," says Frost & Sullivan research analyst Nathan Cohen cohen

such as pulse oximetry and capnography."

Standard monitoring equipment must remain outside the magnetically charged scan room or risk being magnetically attracted into the bore of the system. The Veris monitor reduces the risk through special materials and shielding that prevent it from being magnetically attracted. Control of the monitor is available at the patient's side or with a remote monitoring display control unit that can be easily set up in a control room or another central location.

Another value-enhancing feature of the Veris monitor is its range of configurations that specifically satisfy the particular needs of end-users in a variety of specialties. MEDRAD integrated six configurations into its monitor to meet the needs of healthcare professionals in anesthesia, sedation, cardiac MR, research, and basic patient monitoring.

This multiple configuration feature is a powerful tool for increasing the applications of the device. By providing a flexible display with an intuitive interface, MEDRAD has greatly enhanced the value of its product.

"Moreover, shortened acute-care stays for patients are raising the need for continuous vital signs monitoring to ensure patient safety," observes Cohen. "The Veris monitor's versatility, reliability, and ease-of-use will greatly improve patient monitoring efforts in imaging facilities and offer tremendous value for end-users."

Frost & Sullivan presents its Customer Value Enhancement Award to the company that has demonstrated the ability to expand its customer base, while maintaining its existing installed base, with more innovative value creation and enhancement strategies than competitors. The Award lauds successful sales entry, customer acquisition and service strategies, and the degree to which those strategies have met customers' stated requirements.

MEDRAD received the Award at Frost & Sullivan's third annual Customer Value Enhancement Awards banquet in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 20.
