MEDICI AWARD EVENT ON TAP PLAYHOSUE TO HONOR ZAMRZLA.

PALMDALE - Palmdale roofing company owner Johnny Zamrzla will be honored tonight as the Palmdale Playhouse opens its ninth season.

Zamrzla, owner of Western Pacific Roofing, will receive the Medici Medici, Italian family
Medici (mĕ`dĭchē, Ital. mā`dēchē), Italian family that directed the destinies of Florence from the 15th cent. until 1737.
 Award - named for the powerful Italian Renaissance family members known as patrons of the arts - for his dedication to the arts and continuing support of the Palmdale Playhouse, officials said.

Zamrzla will be honored during a playhouse birthday party reception at 6:30 p.m.

``It's sort of part of our Western heritage,'' Zamrzla said.

 Fair's annual Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) is an organization whose members compete in rodeos around the United States. Zamrzla has owned the roofing company, which has offices in Palmdale, Azusa and Palm Springs, for more than 25 years. He has lived in the Antelope Valley since 1970.

``I think the Antelope Valley, both Palmdale and Lancaster, have seemingly grown well with the population change. One only has to drive across town to notice the changes. One used to drive across town with no stop signs; now they are on just about every corner,'' said Zamrzla. ``Pam and I are very involved in the community. We think it's still a great community. It was when we came and it still is. ... We think it was probably the best thing we did when we came here.''
