MEDICAL CONTROL, INC. ANNOUNCES SIGNIFICANT NEW CONTRACT

DALLAS, Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- MedicalControl, Inc. (NASDAQ-, MDCL-common, MDCLW-warrants) announced the award of a three year contract, commencing on January 1, 1994, by the Texas Association of School Board Employee Benefits Joint Accounts (TASB EBJA). The association has over 23,000 members and is growing. The association was developed for school districts to put them in compliance with the Texas House Bill 285, passed in 1991, requiring that all districts have a benefits plan equivalent to the plan of other State of Texas employees.
Initially 12,000 members will be covered with substantial growth anticipated in the future. The company will receive a specified amount per person per month. It is significant that MedicalControl won this award in a competitive bid although it was not the low bidder. The value-added services, including the ability to provide repricing and offer a large hospital network over a wide geographical area, were the main reasons for the award.
"This is the beginning of several contracts which the company may be able to announce in the foreseeable future," said Ward Hunt, MedicalControl CEO. "Coming after a record third quarter and nine months, and the recently awarded contract, we continue to be confident in achieving our 25-30 percent annual growth in the foreseeable future."
The Dallas-based company provides healthcare cost management services to self-funded employers utilizing software applications. The company's products also include provider network development, data analysis and reporting.
