MEDIA LOGIC PROJECTS LOWER SECOND QUARTER SALES

PLAINVILLE, Mass., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Media Logic, Inc. (AMEX: TST) today announced that it expects sales in the fiscal second quarter ending Sept. 30th to be significantly lower than the $7.1 million of sales in the fiscal first quarter.
"We have not been able to ship some confirmed orders to customers in China because the recent tight-money policy in that country is making it difficult for companies to obtain the letters of credit required by Media Logic's standard payment terms," said Paul M. O'Brien, chief financial officer of Media Logic.
David R. Lennox, chairman of Media Logic, reported that "Some European customers for the company's certification equipment have delayed purchases due to uncertainties about the effects of recent anti- dumping tariffs enacted by the European Community."
"The E.C. tariffs have also destabilized the U.S. diskette market, since quantities of diskettes, particularly low-grade product, originally intended for shipment to Europe have been sent to the U.S. market instead, significantly lowering unit prices for all grades of diskettes," Lennox said. He noted that both the oversupply of diskettes in the U.S. market and the lower unit prices have impacted diskette sale revenues.
Lennox is traveling to S.E. Asia to meet with the company's customers.
