Software, L.L.C., the leading provider of custom software and service solutions for the electronic delivery of financial products and services, and Sun Microsystems Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: JAVA[3]) is an American vendor of computers, computer components, computer software, and information-technology services, founded on 24 February 1982. , Inc. today demonstrated a proof-of-concept application for MECA's next-generation, Java(TM)-based electronic financial transaction software. Running the same home banking application on several platforms -- including a PC, a Sun workstation, a Web kiosk and a set-top box The cable TV box that sits on "top" of the TV "set," although it is often located several feet away in an equipment rack. The set-top box descrambles the premium channels and provides a tuner for the higher cable numbers that very old TVs did not support.  -- the companies illustrated how a financial institution can work with MECA and Sun to build secure, network-based financial products that can be deployed across all of the institution's delivery channels.

"Personal financial management software is moving to the network," said Paul D. Harrison, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. , MECA. "Today's demonstrations provide a compelling glimpse into the custom-tailored financial products of the future."

The proof-of-concept application -- shown today in Sun's booth at the Retail Delivery Show in New Orleans -- demonstrated how a customer's PFM "interface" can be customized to deliver the financial information, services and features of most interest to that consumer. For example, if a customer indicates a preference for checking and savings information, an institution can deliver over the Web a PFM tailored to that customer, whether they conduct business through an ATM, a PC or another electronic channel.

"These kinds of products give financial institutions an extraordinary opportunity to build customer loyalty," said Rob Hall, vice president, worldwide financial services sales and marketing, Sun Microsystems Computer Company. "And by working with Sun and MECA, they get the tools and resources they need deliver competitive products branded by the institution, rather than branded by their technology provider."

The MECA and Sun alliance, announced earlier this year, combines the security, rapid application development environment and "Write Once, Run Anywhere(TM)" feature set of the Sun Connect architecture, with MECA's expertise in PC- and Internet-based financial management solutions. Products based on the alliance will take advantage of the industry's leading specifications for on-line transactions, including Open Financial Exchange (OFX OFX Open Financial Exchange
OFX Outer Fix
