) and its Cullen Trust for the Performing Arts Concert Series will host a concert of work by 19th century Spanish neo-romantic composer Enrique Granados on Friday, April 20, at 8 p.m., at MECA's Auditorium, 1900 Kane Street. Performers include renowned pianist Alejandro Vela with cellist Emmanuelle Beaulieu Bergeron, both graduates of the Juilliard School in New York New York, state, United States

. Visual artist Agustin Merchant will create a new painting for each musical piece.

Alejandro Vela, MECA's current Artist in Residence, is a former MECA student who also attended Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA for short) is a secondary school located at 4001 Stanford Street in the Montrose district of Houston, Texas. The school is a part of the Houston Independent School District. . His principal teachers included Robert Avalon, former MECA Artist in Residence, and Yoheved Kaplinsky, under whose tutelage TUTELAGE. State of guardianship; the condition of one who is subject to the control of a guardian.  graduated from the Juilliard School of Music with both his Bachelor and Master's of Music degrees. Since making his debut with both Houston and Chicago Symphony Orchestras, he has performed throughout Europe, Israel, Mexico, Central America and the United States.

Emmanuelle Beaulieu Bergeron received two prizes magna cum laude in cello and chamber music from the Montreal music conservatory prior to continuing her studies at the Juilliard School of Music, where she earned a Master's degree in 2005. She is currently in residence at the Shepherd School of Music The Shepherd School of Music is located in Houston, Texas on the campus of Rice University, Texas' most selective institute of higher education. Among the schools within the university, the Shepherd School is the most selective, accepting overall about twelve percent of all  at Rice University and is a member of the Kailas String Quartet, with whom she performs regularly.

Agustin Merchant, visual artist, holds a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from the Autonomous National University of Mexico and a Master's in Philosophy from the Metropolitan Autonomous University. Agustin was a professor of philosophy of education at the Amado Nervo School for Teachers from 1989-1990 He has unveiled 13 murals and offered 37 art exhibits in 8 countries including France, Italy, Mexico and the United States Relations between the United States and Mexico are among the most important and complex that each nation maintains. They are shaped by a mixture of mutual interests, shared problems, and growing interdependence. . He currently owns Merchant Art Gallery in the Montrose area of Houston.
