MDU Communications International Signs Contract With 3Com Corporation to Deliver High-speed Broadband Internet Access Targeted

At Multi-dwelling/multi-tenant Units Throughout Canada and the U.S.

MDU Communications International, Inc. (OTCBB:MDTV) today announced it has formed a strategic alliance with 3Com Corporation (Nasdaq:COMS) for the provisioning of high-speed broadband Internet access via 3Com's new Visitor and Community Networking (VCN) System. The new relationship allows MDTV to quickly and cost-effectively deploy high-speed broadband intra-building intranets based on several 3Com (VCN) technologies, products and system solutions. To date, MDTV has deployed several sites with Ethernet over VDSL (always-on, high-speed Internet access and simultaneous phone calls over existing telephone wiring) throughout Canada and its recently announced target of the 27 million multi-dwelling unit market place in the United States.

MDTV will market 3Com's VCN solution consisting of the VCN Access Point, VCN Access Concentrator and the VCN Server for value-added, portal-based services. 3Com's VCN solution will be easily bundled with additional MDTV customized services including DIRECTV satellite programming offerings in the United States and Star Choice programming offerings in Canada, to form an always-on, high-speed Internet access/satellite television package offered through MDTV. The new turnkey solution provides a true utility-like convenience for apartment dwellers or business suite renters.

MDTV has already installed 3Com's VCN solution in several MDU locations throughout Canada. MDTV has deployed the 3Com VCN Solution at the Portico Apartments & Suites, a newly developed, high scale, intelligent building complex in Vancouver, BC. The solution delivers up to 10Mbps Full Duplex Ethernet over Category 5 wiring to each suite. MDTV has deployed broadband Internet services at West Edmonton Village (WEV) using Cable Modem Technology from 3Com allowing concurrent high speed (broadband) Internet access and digital satellite TV over the same Cable TV Plant. WEV is a thousand-suite, multi-building village in Edmonton, AB. The deployment at 1000 Beach, features Ethernet over VDSL using existing Category 1-2 cabling plant.
