MCT Announces New Manufacturing Facility in Penang Malaysia.

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 20, 2002

Micro Component Technology, Inc., (OTCBB:MCTI), a leading supplier of semiconductor test handling and automation solutions, announced today the full commencement of manufacturing in Penang, Malaysia. The new 54,000 sq ft "state of the art" facility located in the Medan Bayan Lepas Technoplex provides MCT with both a significant manufacturing cost savings across all product lines as well as greatly improved support and delivery responsiveness to the majority of our customers that have manufacturing facilities in Asia.

"We have had a small manufacturing capability in Penang for the last few years which primarily focused on support of MCT's singulated products. Earlier this year, we transferred the engineering support, systems and spares manufacturing of our 5105 handler for RF devices and the ASECO S130, S170 and S200 products to our new facility" said Roger Gower, President and CEO of MCT. "Although the present slowdown in the Semiconductor Capital Equipment Market is challenging to everyone in the equipment industry, it provided an ideal time for us to transfer our remaining manufacturing operations to Malaysia and avoid any possibility of affecting customer shipments. This change also allows us to better focus our engineering development centers in St Paul MN and Tempe AZ on the continuing development of new strip based testing solutions and maintaining our market leadership position in this area."
