-- Congressional candidate Robert Rodriguez criticized a new prescription drug prescription drug Prescription medication Pharmacology An FDA-approved drug which must, by federal law or regulation, be dispensed only pursuant to a prescription–eg, finished dose form and active ingredients subject to the provisos of the Federal Food, Drug,  plan Tuesday, as he campaigned at the Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  Senior Center.

Rodriguez, 29, is seeking to defeat seven-term incumbent U.S. Rep (programming) REP - A directive used in IBM object code card decks (and later PTF Tapes) to REPlace fragments of already assembled or compiled object code prior to link edit. . Howard ``Buck'' McKeon, R-Santa Clarita.

As Rodriguez talked to a group of about 15 seniors in front of the senior center, he told them a new Medicare Medicare, national health insurance program in the United States for persons aged 65 and over and the disabled. It was established in 1965 with passage of the Social Security Amendments and is now run by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.  prescription drug plan could leave them with no coverage for their medications.  that portrays McKeon as working for seniors.

``It's really easy to send out one of these pieces of mail to people,'' Rodriguez said. ``But it's another thing to actually come and talk to people face-to-face and find out what they're really struggling with.''

Rodriguez's audience of seniors already seemed allied to his cause. Many carried signs or wore stickers bearing the Democratic candidate's name, and they peppered his talk with criticism of the Republican-controlled Congress.

Scott Wilke, a spokesman for McKeon's office, said the congressman works for seniors on a daily basis on Capitol Capitol, seat of the U.S. Congress

 Hill.

``This attack is particularly outrageous, because it's just so wrong it's infuriating,'' Wilke said.

The prescription drug benefit, which McKeon voted for in 2003, is the first benefit added to Medicare since its inception in 1965, Wilke said, adding that McKeon is working to fix ``glitches'' in the program.

At his talk with seniors, Rodriguez used a theme other Democrats across the country have used in congressional races this year; pointing out the ``doughnut hole'' in the prescription drug plan. The plan requires seniors to pay all the costs of their drugs if those annual costs are $2,250 to $5,100.

Rodriguez, who was a legislative aide to Rep. Linda Sanchez, D-Lakewood, admitted that unseating the incumbent McKeon will be a challenge.

Felipe Monserrat, 84, was one of the seniors at Tuesday's event. He got a call from Rodriguez's campaign asking him to attend the event, which the self-described activist was happy to do.

``I can't believe the cost of medicine is this high,'' he said. ``I have friends who live in Canada and the very same thing costs half the price of here. Why?''
