Commencement exercises will be held at 1 p.m. June 7 in the McKenzie High School gymnasium.

A baccalaureate service A baccalaureate service is an American event which features a speech or series of speeches given to a graduating senior class from a college or high school. The speeches are often, but not necessarily, of a religious nature, almost invariably Christian.  was held Sunday at the McKenzie Baptist Church.

Three students will be recognized as honor seniors at graduation: Molly Schaefers, Kelly Chandler and Jake Beardsley.

Molly Schaefers is class valedictorian. She is the daughter of Michael and Linda Schaefers of Nimrod Nimrod, in the Bible, descendant of Cush who is recorded as a mighty hunter.

Kelly Chandler, the daughter of Jolene Chandler of Vida, is class salutatorian sa·lu·ta·to·ri·an

The student with the second highest academic rank in a class who delivers the salutatory at graduation exercises.

Jake Beardsley is the son of Bill and Carolyn Beardsley of Blue River. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Golf Oregon. He plans to attend Lane Community College for one year before transferring to a state college or university, hoping to pursue a career in automobile testing or design.

The 21 members of the class of 2003 include Jake Beardsley, Kelly Chandler, Martin Covic, Raphael Eggensperger, Brian Estes, Patrick Fallon, McKenzie Flint, Jan Georges, Jenna Harbick, Lyn Hart, Rachael

Hiddleston, Nelson Huang, Holly Jaques, Cyrus Li, Kaylyn Millsap, Aubry Nelson, Adam Rodakowski, Molly Schaefers, Jenny Watkins, Andrew West and Mark Willhite.
