MCI WorldCom's Internet subsidiary, UUNET (UUNET Technologies, Inc., Fairfax, VA, www.uunet.net) Founded in 1987, UUNET was the first commercial Internet service provider. Originally offering e-mail and news, it became a full Internet service organization providing dial-up and leased line accounts as well as archive space for , has been a provider for AOLnet, the world's largest dial-up network, for several years. Under the expanded relationship, UUNET will continue to build out and manage a significant portion of AOLnet, as well as continue to provide AOL with dial-up services on UUNET's Dial Access Network.
