 MCI ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE APPOINTMENTS
 WASHINGTON, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- MCI Communications


Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: MCIC) today announced the appointments of Douglas L. Maine as senior vice president and chief financial officer, and Gary M. Parsons as president of MCI's Atlanta-based Southern Division.
 Maine, formerly Southern Division president, succeeds O. Gene Gabbard, who recently announced plans to pursue other business interests. Parsons, formerly senior vice president of engineering and support services, succeeds Maine.
 Maine, who joined MCI in 1978, previously served as senior vice president of finance and as controller for the corporation. He also served as vice president of finance administration for the southeastern United States.
 He received his bachelor's degree from Temple University and a master's of business administration degree in finance from Hofstra University.
 As president of MCI's Southern Division, Parsons will be responsible for operations, sales and marketing in the southern United States -- a region comprised of 14 states.
 Formerly senior vice president of engineering and support services for MCI, Parsons was executive vice president of network and corporate development for Atlanta-based Telecom-USA, Inc., before it was merged with MCI in August of 1990.
 Parsons holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Clemson University and a master's of business administration degree from the University of South Carolina.
 MCI with 1991 revenues of approximately $8.43 billion, serves its customers with a variety of domestic and international telecommunications services, including long distance telephone, telex and time sensitive message delivery. MCI's residential and business customers are now provided with an array of voice and data services made possible through a digital telecommunications network that spans the globe.
