MCI, CELUTEL ENTER MARKETING AGREEMENT

ATLANTA and ANNAPOLIS, Md., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Officials with MCI Telecommunications Corp. and Celutel, Incorporated, today announced a joint marketing agreement aimed at continuing the sales efforts of both companies.
MCI and Celutel cite the tremendous growth in the cellular and the long distance industries as primary factors in the agreement. MCI views the wireless industry as an important step in the evolution of telecommunications today. Similarly, Celutel's customers utilize long distance service as integral components of their telecommunication networks.
Among highlights of the contract, discounts in MCI's service will be available to Celutel customers under MCI's federal tariff.
"This agreement is an excellent complement for customers of both MCI and Celutel," said Timothy Price, president of MCI Business Services. "Clientele of both companies will now be able to enjoy even more of the benefits provided by two of the finest firms in their respective fields today."
Celutel is the parent company of Cellular One and provides service under non-wireline cellular licenses in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, area as well as the Jackson and Gulf Coast markets in Mississippi. International telephone traffic in these regions is particularly heavy because of their proximity to Mexico.
"We believe our customers will derive substantial benefit from our alliance with MCI," said David Warren, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Celutel.
MCI has provided Celutel with its own administrative long distance service since 1989. Under the new agreement, Celutel will assist MCI in marketing directly to Celutel's business customers.
Celutel, Incorporated (AMEX: CLU), is considered one of the strongest, most aggressive cellular companies in the industry today, with more than 70 percent subscriber and cellular service revenue growth in fiscal 1992.
MCI offers a full range of domestic and global telecommunications services through a state-of-the-art worldwide network. With 1992 revenues of over $10 billion, MCI is the second largest long distance provider in the United States and the sixth largest international provider of long distance services.
Celutel offers cellular data and phone services to customers in the following metropolitan statistical areas: McAllen, Texas; Harlingen/ Brownsville, Texas; Jackson, Miss.; Biloxi/Gulfport, Miss.; and Pasagoula, Miss. These areas comprise a total population of more than 1.4 million. Celutel will generate revenues of more than $21 million in fiscal 1992.
