MCG Credit Corp.'s new infusion of capital from Vestar and Soros brings total to $700 million.

 Credit Corporation with an infusion of growth capital that brings the specialty finance firm's total capital raised since its June 1998 formation to over $700 million.

Further, MCG will create MCG Ventures, a $100 million fund that focuses on investing in media, communications and technology businesses.

The company is also changing its name to MCG Capital Corporation to better reflect its current and ongoing business activities.

Vestar managing director Norm Alpert said, "Our investment in MCG Capital continues our strategy of partnering with strong management teams in select markets."

MCG's Andrew Jacobson, a newsletter veteran, said that the company is "talking with a number of newsletter publishers." He told NL/NL, "Some of the potential deals involve acquisitions while in other cases we would provide funding to help newsletter publishers get on the web."

Among MCG's clients are Newsletter Holdings (Allie Ash), Upside Upside

The potential dollar amount by which the market or a stock could rise.

Since its inception, MCG has funded over 200 deals with over $2 billion in invested capital.

Just recently, MCG Credit Corp. was involved in financing the purchase of the Governance Institute, a La Jolla La Jolla (lə hoi`yə), on the Pacific Ocean, S Calif., an uninc. district within the confines of San Diego; founded 1869. The beautiful ocean beaches, in particular La Jolla shores and Black's Beach, and sea-washed caves attract visitors and , Calif., firm which produces newsletters, books, videos and national conferences for the boards of hospitals and health systems (NL/NL 4/15/00).

In the past MCG has been involved with United Communications Group (ucg) and Phillips Publishing.

A subsidiary whose parent company owns 100% of its common stock.
