 MCDONNELL DOUGLAS TO LAY OFF WORKERS IN TULSA PLANT
 TULSA, Okla., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- McDonnell Douglas said today


it will lay off 208 people from its Tulsa plant due to a flattening in the production rate for MD-80 and MD-11 airliners and the winding down of F-15 Eagle fighter production for the U.S. Air Force.
 Of the 208 people affected, 193 are production workers who are members of United Auto Workers Local 1093 and Local 73. Fourteen are salaried employees and one is a member of an engineering union, the Southern California Professional Engineers Association (SCPEA).
 Union members will be notified Feb. 19, and their last day at work will be Feb. 21. The 48-hour notice is in accordance with the terms of the union contracts. Salaried employees will be notified today, and their last day at work will be Feb. 28. The two-week notice is in accordance with company policy for salaried employees.
