MBDA quals Aster Saam/IT. (Digest).The Italian naval defence system known as Saam/IT (Superficie/Aria Anti/Missile/ Italia) has successfully launched its first Aster 15 from the Italian Carabiniere ca·ra·bi·nie·re n. pl. ca·ra·bi·nie·ri A member of the Italian police force. The firing resulted in a direct hit of
the target seven kilometres away and at 3280 metres in altitude altitude, vertical distance of an object above some datum plane, such as mean sea level or a reference point on the earth's surface. It is usually measured by the reduction in atmospheric pressure with height, as shown on a barometer or altimeter. . The
Saam/IT system includes the same subsystems as France's Saam/FR,
notably the Sylver vertical launcher and Aster 15 missiles, but
MBDA's fire control system is integrated with an Italian
multi-function Empar radar. Both Saam/IT and /FR programmes are run by
