MAYORAL APPOINTMENTS AWAIT COUNCIL APPROVAL.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa Antonio Ramon Villaraigosa (born Antonio (Tony) Ramon Villar, Jr. on January 23, 1953) is the mayor of Los Angeles, California. He is the first Latino mayor of Los Angeles since Cristobal Aguilar in 1872.  on Monday nominated a University of Southern California The U.S. News & World Report ranked USC 27th among all universities in the United States in its 2008 ranking of "America's Best Colleges", also designating it as one of the "most selective universities" for admitting 8,634 of the almost 34,000 who applied for freshman admission  law professor to serve on the city Ethics Commission In the United States, an Ethics Commission is a commission established by State law to discourage dishonest practices by their public employees and elected officials. Almost all American states have such a commission.  and a controversial former CalPERS official to serve on the city's Police and Fire Pension Board.

Robert Saltzman, an associate dean who has taught ethics and professional standards at the School of Law, will replace attorney Dale Bonner on the Ethics Commission. Sean Harrigan would fill a vacancy on the Pension Board created by the recent retirement of Sim (1) (Society for Information Management, Chicago, IL, www.simnet.org) Founded in 1968 as the Society for MIS, it is a membership organization made up of corporate and division heads of IT organizations.  Farar.

``I am grateful that both of these outstanding individuals have agreed to serve our city,'' Villaraigosa said. ``Their experience and judgment will serve our city well.''

The mayor is allowed to make one appointment to the Ethics Commission, whose members are limited to five-year terms. The appointment is subject to City Council approval.

They clashed over his philosophy of using the pension fund - the nation's largest - to force change in corporations and using its stock holdings to vote for and against directors.

The city Pension Board oversees assets of $12.8 billion representing some 24,000 active and retired police officers and firefighters.

Jack Kyser, chief economist The Chief Economist is a single position job class having primary responsibility for the development, coordination, and production of economic and financial analysis. It is distinguished from the other economist positions by the broader scope of responsibility encompassing the  for the Economic Development Corp., said most business leaders will take a wait-and-see approach on what Harrigan does if his appointment is approved by the council.
