In a shuffling of appointees at the start of his second term, Mayor Richard Riordan Richard J. Riordan (born May 1, 1930) is a Republican politician from California, U.S. who served as the California Secretary of Education from 2003–2005 and as Mayor of Los Angeles from 1993–2001. The mayor did not offer any explanation for the replacement of Ellman, who once served as an analyst in the Chief Legislative Analyst's office. Ellman said she wanted to pursue other opportunities and for more than a year had been considering leaving the panel, which oversees several agencies, including sanitation and street maintenance.
