In spite of the clout nominally wielded by the leader of America's second-largest city, previous officials have rarely attracted the rock star-esque attention focused on the velvet-voiced politician. Powered by an endless stream of Splenda-sweetened green teas, Villaraigosa has spent his first year in office averting a strike, brokering a transit pact, wrangling greater influence over the Los Angeles Unified School District, traipsing around China on a trade mission and appearing at nearly every single rally, pothole filling and feel-good event in town. His name frequently pops up in connection with the phrases ``gubernatorial hopeful'' and ``Energizer Bunny.'' In addition to Villaraigosa, Disney Hall architect Frank Gehry and legendary troubadour Bob Dylan, Daily News Editor Ron Kaye also made the list. When questioned on his presence among the heavy hitters, Kaye refused to comment.
