LANCASTER - Jane Maxwell has been hired as assistant superintendent Assistant Superintendent, or Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), was a rank used by police forces in the British Empire. Maxwell previously worked nine years as superintendent of the Lassen Union High School District in Susanville.

``Jane is a highly skilled administrator with a proven record. She brings a new perspective of looking at continuing issues related to students,'' Superintendent Robert Girolamo said.

With the first day of school approaching, Maxwell is busy working with her staff. She said the challenge in working in a large district is to extend a personal touch throughout the system.

Maxwell made the move to the Antelope Valley with her husband of 21 years, Bob. She has a daughter attending Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo.

In her time off, she enjoys travel and volunteering in the community. In Susanville she was a Rotarian, Teen Court commissioner and Arts Council member.
