MAXUS ENERGY DECLARES COMMERCIALITY IN BOLIVIA

DALLAS, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Maxus Energy Corporation (NYSE: MXS) today announced that it has declared commerciality in its Mamore Block in Bolivia.
The declaration comes after the company completed successful long- term testing on the Surubi No. 1 and No. 2 wells, which were drilled in 1992 for a combined 209 feet of net pay. Currently, Maxus is drilling a third well from the "A" pad and building a second well pad.
Maxus submitted a letter of commerciality to YPFB, the Bolivian state oil company. Maxus is operator and holds 100 percent interest in the block, which is about 96 miles northwest of Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Initial production from the two wells will not commence until pipeline and marketing arrangements are completed later this year.
Dallas-based Maxus Energy is a large independent oil and gas exploration and production company with operations in 13 countries, including the United States.
