MAVERICK POWER DEBUTS LINE OF INTERNAL AC ADAPTER MODULES.

Maverick Power Systems, Santa Barbara, Calif., a developer of low-cost power supply products, has introduced the MPS family of internal AC adapter modules for OEM manufacturers of small electronic products.

MPS modules eliminate the need for external AC power adapters for thousands of electronic products used by both consumers and businesses. The OEM modules are designed to supply most of the popular DC voltages directly from an AC power source, without the need for internal cables. The off-line switching design consumes less power than systems that utilize external transformers, and does not consume power when the product is turned off, making the product more energy efficient. Prices start at $3 in production quantities.

Benefits include the following:

-- An PCB module plugs into a connector on the OEM board and includes AC input receptacle - eliminating the need for internal wires;

-- The module has obtained all regulatory approvals for sale in North America, Europe and most of Asia; and,

-- The compact size measuring 1.5"w by 3.5"l by 1.0"h makes it easy to use and design into any small electronic product.

The modules provide regulated DC outputs from 3.3 to 12 Volts with a universal AC input of 85-265VAC. The MPS family of products also features overload protection which allows output shut-off under short or over current conditions, and efficiency of at least 75%. Regulatory approvals include UL1950, TUV EN60950, CISPR22 (EN55022), FCC, Blue Angel and Energy Star.
